Bahraini vessel forced into Iranian waters

The Ministry of Interior has clarified that three Bahraini sailors were forced at gunpoint from Bahrain’s territorial waters into Iranian waters during an armed robbery on February 18, 2026.
The incident involved a Bahraini vessel, from which one engine and other belongings were seized.
According to the sailors’ statements, they were transferred onto a boat operated by the perpetrators, who headed towards Iranian waters before releasing them approximately three hours later, allowing them to return to Bahrain. The assailants were Iranian nationals.
