Sitra Seek Response Against In-Form Al Hidd
Sitra will look to regroup and gain momentum as they take on Al Hidd at Bahrain National Stadium tonight in the final fixture of Matchweek 15 of the Nasser Bin Hamad Premier League, with kickoff scheduled for 9 pm.
The clash comes on the back of contrasting recent threads for the two sides. Sitra’s Gulf Club Champions League campaign ended last week in Iraq with a defeat to Zakho, rounding off a difficult run of results. Coach Ali Abdulmajeed now turns his full attention back to domestic competition as the team seeks to climb away from the lower reaches of the league table.
Sitra currently occupy 10th place with 15 points from 14 matches, and will be desperate for a positive result to restore confidence and halt their lean run of form. Key to their hopes will be maintaining structure and finishing clinically when opportunities arise, areas that have cost them in recent weeks.
Al Hidd arrive with momentum following a morale-boosting 3–0 win over Riffa in Matchday 14. Under coach Shukri Al Bajawi, the team started brightly and converted chances efficiently, with Walid Karoui’s superb opener setting the tone before further goals sealed a convincing victory. That result lifted Al Hidd to seventh on 18 points, and they will aim to build on that performance to push into the top half of the table.
The league’s Ramadan scheduling sees all fixtures played at 9pm, allowing players to break their fast before kickoff. Both sides know the importance of fine margins at this stage of the season: Sitra need to arrest their slide and instill belief, while Al Hidd aim to maintain an upward trajectory and close the gap on the teams above them.
