Government policy concerning facilities for transit passengers and tourists is expected to undergo a comprehensive review during the Nineteenth Ordinary Session of the Fourth Annual Meeting of the Sixth Legislative Chapter, as MPs prepare to open a general debate on the Kingdom’s tourism positioning.
The motion for general debate was submitted by a group of MPs led by MP Mamdouh Abbas Al Saleh, who will receive priority to speak. The request was also signed by MP Ahmed Abdulwahed Qarata, MP Jalal Kazem Mahfoodh, MP Hassan Ebrahim Hassan, MP Dr Hesham Ahmed Al Ashiri, MP Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed, MP Mahdi Abdulaziz Al Showaikh, MP Mohsen Ali Al Asboul, MP Mahmood Mirza Fardan and MP Dr Ali Majed Al Nuaimi.
The discussion is expected to seek clarification on the government’s strategy in enhancing transit facilities, entry procedures and tourism incentives. Lawmakers are anticipated to examine whether current policies sufficiently strengthen Bahrain’s competitiveness as a regional transit hub and visitor destination.
The upcoming session may explore coordination among aviation authorities, tourism bodies and economic planning entities. MPs are likely to evaluate infrastructure readiness, regulatory flexibility and service standards in relation to broader diversification objectives.
As the chamber convenes, attention will turn to how tourism facilitation policies align with economic growth targets and the Kingdom’s long term development vision.
