Over 23,000 retirees receive pensions above BD 1,000

More than 23,000 retirees receive monthly pensions of over BD 1,000, the Social Insurance Organisation (SIO) has told Parliament.
SIO chief executive Sahar Rashid Al Mannaie, responding to a parliamentary question from MP Ali Saqer Al Doseri, said the figures were based on the organisation’s third-quarter statistical report.
In total, 23,499 pensioners receive more than BD 1,000 a month. The largest group, 19,346 retirees, receive between BD 1,000 and BD 1,999. A further 2,851 receive between BD 2,000 and B D 2,999, while 1,002 receive BD 3,000 to BD 3,999. Another 192 pensioners receive between BD 4,000 and BD 4,999, and 108 receive BD 5,000 or more.
Separately, the SIO said 1,128 beneficiaries receive pensions of more than BD 1,000 a month on behalf of relatives. “The total monthly pensions are about 1.6 million dinars, and the total annual pensions are about 19.2 million dinars,” Al Mannaie said.
Most beneficiaries fall within the BD 1,000 to BD 1,999 band, numbering 1,008. Another 87 receive between BD 2,000 and BD 2,999, 28 receive BD 3,000 to BD 3,999, four receive BD 4,000 to BD 4,999, and one receives BD 5,000 or more.
Among male beneficiaries aged 20 to 40 receiving pensions above BD 1,000 on behalf of relatives, the SIO reported 49 cases, with total payments of about B D 6 6 , 3 0 0 p e r month and approximately BD 795,600 per year. Of these, 46 receive between BD 1,000 and BD 1,999, two receive BD 2,000 to BD 2,999, and one receives BD 3,000 to BD 3,999.
For female beneficiaries in the same age group, the SIO reported 162 cases, with total payments of around BD 226,400 per month and about BD 2.7 million annually. Of these, 146 receive between BD 1,000 and BD 1,999, 1 3 receive BD 2,000 to BD 2,999, and three receive BD 3,000 to B D 3,9 9 9, with none in the higher bands.
