President Zardari and Interior Minister Discuss Strategic Security Partnership in Manama

On the sidelines of his official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Excellency Asif Ali Zardari, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, received His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Interior. The meeting underscored the deep-rooted historical ties between the two nations and focused on expanding a robust framework for regional security and community safety.

President Zardari opened the meeting by expressing his profound appreciation for the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He lauded His Majesty’s pivotal role in fostering a strategic partnership that has seen the two countries cooperate closely on a global stage. The President also commended the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing efforts to streamline security coordination with Pakistani authorities, noting that such collaboration is essential for maintaining stability and protecting the shared interests of both brotherly nations.

For his part, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa hailed the positive outcomes of President Zardari’s visit, describing the high-level meeting between the two heads of state as a reflection of the enduring fraternal bonds between Bahrain and Pakistan. The Minister expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani President for his personal commitment to enhancing joint action, emphasising that the exchange of expertise is a cornerstone of their bilateral relationship.

The discussions highlighted several key community security initiatives, with a particular focus on intensifying the fight against narcotics. Both leaders reached an agreement to bolster coordination in drug enforcement and to mount a unified front against the threats of organised crime.
