Trump Alleges Arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in Truth Social Post

Washington D.C.: US President Donald Trump claimed on Saturday that the United States had arrested Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and removed them from Venezuela, though no official confirmation has been issued by US or Venezuelan authorities.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the United States carried out what he described as a “large-scale operation” targeting Venezuela’s leadership. He alleged that Maduro and his wife were taken into custody and flown out of the country in coordination with US law enforcement agencies.

Trump did not provide evidence to support the claim and said further details would be released later. He also announced that a press conference would be held at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

As of Saturday, there was no immediate confirmation from the White House, the US Department of Justice, or Venezuelan officials regarding the alleged arrests. Maduro remains Venezuela’s sitting president, and there were no reports from independent sources indicating a change in the country’s leadership.

The claim, if verified, would mark an extraordinary escalation in US-Venezuela relations, which have been strained for years over sanctions, accusations of human rights abuses, and disputes over Venezuela’s political legitimacy.
