Bahrain Government Announces Electricity and Water Tariff Updates for 2026

The government has announced key decisions regarding electricity and water tariffs, alongside ongoing efforts to strengthen Bahrain as a preferred investment destination.

Electricity Tariffs:

The rates for the first and second consumption tiers in primary residences will remain unchanged for citizens, with consideration for extended families.

For all other non-subsidized categories, electricity rates will increase from 29 fils to 32 fils per kilowatt-hour, effective January 2026.

Water Tariffs:

The rates for the first and second consumption tiers in primary residences will remain unchanged for citizens, with consideration for extended families.

For all other non-subsidized categories, water rates will rise from 750 fils to 775 fils per cubic meter, effective January 2026.

The government has also decided to postpone the development of new support mechanisms for electricity and water consumption until further study is completed. The Ministers of Electricity & Water and Social Development have been tasked with implementing these measures.

Investment Initiatives:
The government reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing Bahrain’s status as a preferred destination for investment. Initiatives include streamlining government procedures to attract foreign investments and strengthen the private sector. So far, more than 1,300 government services have been documented, translated, and published, with 800 services re-engineered and continuously monitored for performance.

At the conclusion of the press conference, the government team thanked journalists and media representatives for their dedicated efforts in supporting national growth and development.
