Bahrain Government Announces Natural Gas and Fuel Pricing Updates

The Bahraini government has announced upcoming adjustments to natural gas prices for companies and factories, as well as a new mechanism for fuel pricing for vehicles.

Regarding natural gas for industrial use, the government reviewed decisions made in 2015 and analyzed both local and global market conditions. It has been decided to adjust the natural gas price for companies and factories to better reflect the actual cost of consumption. The new pricing will take effect in January 2026, with an annual increase of $0.50 per year for four years. The goal is to encourage factories and industrial facilities to improve energy efficiency, conserve limited natural gas resources, and invest in renewable energy, while reducing the gap between local and global gas prices.

On fuel pricing for vehicles, the government plans to establish a committee of government entities and companies to monitor and determine local fuel prices on a monthly basis. This initiative aims to reflect global price changes while ensuring economic efficiency and financial sustainability.

The new fuel pricing mechanism will cover the following types of fuel:

Super (98 octane)

Premium (95 octane)

Regular (91 octane)

Diesel

Support for diesel will continue for Bahraini fishermen. The committee held a meeting today and will soon announce the updated fuel prices.
