A total of 764 Indian nationals were deported from the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2025, according to the latest figures released by India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in the Rajya Sabha. While Saudi Arabia topped the global list with over 11,000 deportations, Bahrain was also among the nations in the Gulf region to report such cases as authorities continued efforts to address labour market irregularities and residency violations.
The Indian MEA’s report identified residency law violations as the primary driver behind the deportations from the Kingdom. According to officials, the common grounds for being sent back included overstaying beyond visa or residency validity, working without a valid work permit, and violations of local labour regulations. Many cases also involved "absconding" reports, where workers were flagged for being absent from their legal sponsors, thereby losing their legal status.
The figures coincide with a year of rigorous enforcement by Bahrain’s Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and the Ministry of Interior. Throughout 2025, joint inspection campaigns were conducted across all governorates to identify "illegal" workers and non-compliant commercial establishments. These measures are part of Bahrain’s ongoing commitment to regulating the labour market, ensuring the rights of both employers and employees are protected under the law.
Across the globe, more than 24,600 Indians were deported from 81 countries in 2025, with Gulf nations and the United States accounting for the majority of cases due to a mix of administrative overstays and tightened immigration policies.
