Municipal sources have confirmed that the trial opening of the new link bridge connecting Shaikh Isa bin Salman Bridge to Road 105 in Busaiteen is expected to take place later this week, coinciding with the end of the year and the start of the New Year.
The sources said work on the project has accelerated significantly in recent weeks to ensure timely completion. The bridge is considered a key traffic project aimed at strengthening connectivity between Manama and Muharraq, while easing traffic movement between Busaiteen, Sayah, Dair, Samaheej, and extending towards Diyar Al Muharraq and nearby areas.
The project includes a two-lane bridge in each direction, allowing free-flow traffic between Shaikh Isa bin Salman Bridge and Road 105. This is expected to reduce daily traffic congestion and ease pressure on the Shaikh Isa bin Salman Bridge–Al Ghoos Road junction.
Estimates indicate that the opening of the bridge could reduce travel time from Manama to Diyar Al Muharraq by up to 20 minutes during peak hours. It will also help divert part of the traffic coming from the Muharraq Ring Road towards Muharraq city, improving overall traffic flow across the expanded road network.
The sources added that the project was completed in a record time thanks to coordination among several government entities, including the General Directorate of Traffic at the Ministry of Interior, the Electricity and Water Authority, and other service bodies. The bridge is expected to be officially completed in 2025.
