The Interior Ministry announced that the Anti-Cyber Crimes Directorate of the General Directorate for Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security has taken the necessary legal measures against nine social media accounts found to have violated the law.

The action follows monitoring of content that attempted to incite discord and hatred among citizens in a manner that threatens civil peace.

Reposting such sedition-promoting content or supporting it through approving comments exposes individuals to legal accountability, the Directorate noted.

It stressed the importance of responsible use of social media platforms, enhancing public awareness, and safeguarding the community from the dangers of misuse, while adhering to the law and upholding the authentic traditions and values of Bahraini society.
