Father Reports Private Driver for Leaving Daughter in Car; Driver Detained Pending Investigation
The Head of the Family and Child Prosecution announced that the Public Prosecution received a report from the Badiya Police Center in the Northern Governorate from a father against a private driver who left his daughter inside a vehicle after returning from school in the evening. The incident occurred due to the driver’s failure to check the vehicle after dropping off students.
The Public Prosecution immediately launched an investigation and interrogated the driver, who admitted to his negligence. He explained that the car had broken down, prompting him to call a tow truck. The vehicle was transported atop the tow truck without him verifying that no students were inside, unaware that the child had fallen asleep in the car. Upon receiving a call about the child, the driver stopped the tow truck and was shocked to find the girl inside. The Public Prosecution ordered his temporary detention pending further investigation.
In this regard, the Head of the Public Prosecution stressed that the authorities remain firm in addressing violations related to the transportation of students of all ages. She urged parents to ensure that licensed drivers are employed and adhere strictly to regulations, including verifying that school buses and transport vehicles are empty before leaving, to safeguard the lives and safety of children.
