Milestone as Bahrain celebrates digital excellence

The Minister of Interior, His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, commended Bahrain’s remarkable progress in digital development, highlighting its pivotal role in supporting comprehensive development under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Also Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology, H.E. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah praised the sustained support and guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in advancing constructive initiatives aimed at enhancing government performance.
Speaking at a ceremony honouring the winners of the thirteenth edition of the eGovernment Excellence Award 2025, the Minister said, “It is my pleasure to welcome you to this day of achievement as we celebrate the winning digital projects and initiatives… which reflects the levels of development and digital milestones achieved by the Kingdom of Bahrain and its clear role in supporting the comprehensive development process, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.”
The event, themed “Digital Excellence and Government Innovation,” coincided with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of connecting the Kingdom to the Internet, marking a key milestone in Bahrain’s technological journey. “It is suitable, as we celebrate the winning digital projects, to also mark the 30th anniversary of connecting the Kingdom of Bahrain to the internet. This is considered one of the most significant technological achievements during the prosperous era of HM the King,” the Interior Minister noted.
H.E. General Shaikh Rashid also highlighted Bahrain’s pioneering role in the digital era, stating, “The Kingdom of Bahrain became the first country in the world to provide internet access to all its government employees, aiming to improve government operations and service quality. It also ranks among the most connected countries, achieving 100% internet coverage, according to the International Telecommunication Union’s report.”
