Bahrain Braces for Week-Long Cold Wave as Temperatures Set to Plunge
Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain is set to experience a noticeable drop in temperatures starting Monday evening, as a cold wave moves in with the passage of a regional low-pressure system, the Meteorology Department at the Ministry of Transport and Communications announced.
The system, currently centred over northern Iraq and southern Turkey, is generating active northerly to north-westerly winds that will significantly cool the Kingdom’s atmosphere, particularly during nighttime and early morning hours.
Winds are forecast to strengthen tonight, reaching speeds of up to 50 km/h, which may stir dust in open areas and contribute to lower humidity levels.
According to the department, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 26°C and 28°C, while minimum temperatures may fall to 17°C–20°C. Perceived temperatures will be even lower due to wind chill.
On Tuesday, temperatures are expected to remain cool, with highs around 29°C and lows near 21°C, as the cold conditions continue through the week. Winds will stay moderate to brisk and offshore wave heights may reach up to 3 feet.
The Meteorology Department urged the public to stay updated through official channels and to exercise caution, especially during marine activities as conditions may become rough.
