The Kingdom of Bahrain has strengthened its presence in international organizations by winning a seat on the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS), an affiliate of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

On this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Bahrain National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, expressed great pride in the continuous support extended to national talent by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He emphasized that such support has empowered Bahrain’s Ministry of Education to compete on the global stage and earn membership in one of UNESCO’s most significant bodies—the UNESCO Institute for Statistics.

Dr. Juma also congratulated Dr. Shaikha Abdullah Mufeez, Director of Strategic Planning at the Ministry of Education, on her well-deserved achievement, highlighting that this success is a clear testament to the capabilities and professionalism of Bahrain’s educational sector and its national cadres who continue to excel in regional and international forums.

The announcement was made during the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, where Dr. Mufeez was officially elected as a member of the UIS Governing Board—an achievement that adds yet another milestone to Bahrain’s growing record of international accomplishments.

This success stands as a global recognition of the expertise and competence of Bahraini professionals in the fields of educational statistics and strategic planning, reflecting the Kingdom’s expanding role in supporting educational development at both regional and international levels.
