Upon arrival, the delegation was welcomed by Deputy Interior Minister Lt-General Adel bin Khalifa bin Hamad Al Fadhel.
During the visit, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, briefed the Omani delegation on the complex’s facilities and services. He highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to ensuring the highest international standards in human rights and the ongoing efforts to meet the needs of beneficiaries.
He also reviewed the positive outcomes achieved through the Penalties and Alternative Measures Law and the implementation of the Open Prisons Programme, which includes new rehabilitation and training initiatives. The briefing shed light on the programme’s success in rehabilitation through education, vocational training, and behavioural reform, which help inmates reintegrate into society.
The Omani delegation toured various sections of the complex, including modern educational facilities, residential units offering comprehensive living services, and a sports club that contributes to the physical and vocational development of beneficiaries.
