Bahrain Unveils Cybersecurity Blueprint for FinTech Innovation
The Arab International Cybersecurity Conference and Exhibition witnessed a compelling keynote presentation by Dr. Salah Khalifa AlBenJasim, Executive Director of Administration and IT at the Court of the Crown Prince (CCP), who highlighted Bahrain’s pioneering approach to cybersecurity in the FinTech sector.
Dr. AlBenJasim presented Bahrain as a case study for developing a comprehensive cybersecurity framework tailored to FinTech innovations. He emphasized that the framework is structured into three key areas, integrating policy, technology, and operational measures to protect the kingdom’s growing digital financial ecosystem.
“The goal is to create a resilient environment where FinTech businesses can innovate safely,” Dr. AlBenJasim explained. “Cybersecurity is a core pillar, ensuring that digital services are reliable, secure, and scalable.”
The framework, he added, takes into account the unique characteristics of small and agile FinTech teams, providing guidelines that enable rapid deployment while meeting international standards. By understanding the specific needs of Bahrain’s local and regional financial services, the framework bridges the gap between global best practices and the kingdom’s market realities.
Dr. AlBenJasim also noted the collaborative effort behind the initiative, involving 14 senior executives and experts across government, business, and academia. This multi-stakeholder approach ensures that the framework is both practical and forward-looking, addressing emerging cyber threats while supporting innovation.
The presentation underscored Bahrain’s commitment to becoming a regional hub for secure and advanced financial technologies, demonstrating how a proactive cybersecurity posture can drive confidence among investors, businesses, and consumers alike.
As FinTech continues to transform the financial landscape, Bahrain’s model offers a roadmap for countries seeking to balance innovation with security, showing that robust digital frameworks can be both protective and enabling.
