The Kingdom of Bahrain celebrated a proud educational milestone as student Mohammed Jassim Mubarak from Al Ahlia School clinched second place in the 9th edition of the Arab Reading Challenge, outperforming more than 32 million students from 50 countries worldwide.

The remarkable achievement was announced during the grand closing ceremony held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Bahrain’s Minister of Education, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the young achiever, commending his outstanding performance and dedication. The minister emphasized that this victory reflects the advanced standards of Bahrain’s educational institutions, particularly in fostering students’ Arabic language and reading skills.

Before reaching the global stage, Mohammed had already earned first place in Bahrain, emerging from a pool of 137,000 students representing both public and private schools across the Kingdom. His journey to the top highlights the nation’s growing commitment to nurturing literacy, culture, and a love of knowledge among youth.

The Arab Reading Challenge, an initiative under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, stands as the world’s largest project promoting Arabic literacy, inspiring millions of young readers to embrace books as gateways to imagination, identity, and intellectual growth.
