The Syro-Malankarites in the Arabian Region Together (SMART) successfully concluded its two-day grand reunion event, Sukrutham 2025, marking the 95th reunion celebration.

Held on October 2nd and 3rd, the spiritual and cultural gathering in Bahrain brought together over 200 delegates from five GCC countries and more than 1,200 participants from the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Flag hoisting

The festivities commenced with the flag hoisting by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church followed by the symbolic lighting of the Sukrutham 2025 lamp by His Lordship Bishop Aldo Berardi, Apostolic Vicar of Northern Arabia (AVONA).

The Catholicate flag and the Papal flag were received by Rt. Rev. Dr. John Thundiyath, Co-Episcopa, and Rev. Fr. Jacob Kalluvila, respectively, officially opening the celebration.

The first day included an ice-breaking session for GCC participants, followed by an audience with Cardinal Cleemis and an evening prayer service.

The second day began with an insightful workshop by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Edayathu, Assistant Director of Caritas India, New Delhi.

In the afternoon, a solemn liturgical reception was accorded to both Cardinal Cleemis and Bishop Berardi, followed by a Holy Mass celebrated by His Beatitude.

During the Mass, 12 newly trained altar servers began their ministry, and 13 children received their First Holy Communion from Cardinal Cleemis.
