Bahrain Steps Up Regional Transport Cooperation at Global Rail Summit

Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, H.E. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, held a series of high-level meetings on the sidelines of the second edition of the Global Rail 2025 Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi.

During the event, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla met with H.E. Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure. He congratulated Al Mazrouei on the successful organization of the conference and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, improve infrastructure efficiency through modern methods, advance sustainable transport solutions, and adopt innovative smart mobility systems.

The Bahraini minister also held talks with H.E. Lt. Gen. Engineer Kamel Abdel Hadi, Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Industry. Discussions focused on Egypt’s large-scale infrastructure and transport projects, especially in railways and metro systems, with an emphasis on exchanging expertise and building partnerships that enhance service quality and support sustainable development.

In addition, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla met with H.E. Dr. Nidal Al Qatamin, Jordan’s Minister of Transport, to explore opportunities to expand cooperation in passenger and trade mobility, while reviewing Jordan’s strategic projects in the transport sector to promote integration and knowledge exchange.

He also met with Eng. Abdulrahman bin Salem Al Hatmi, CEO of Asyad Group, to review Oman’s ports and free zone ecosystem and discuss strengthening land and maritime transport services, alongside boosting private sector participation in advancing Gulf logistics connectivity.

Furthermore, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla held talks with Mr. Ahmed Al Massawai Al Hashemi, CEO of Hafeet Rail, where he was briefed on the company’s advanced operational systems and technologies. Discussions highlighted the importance of integrating logistics transport across cities and industrial areas to raise the overall efficiency of transport networks.
