Life sentence upheld yesterday for a man who killed with a hammer and set fire to workers’ lodgings in Tubli; appeal judges also ordered the weapon seized and his deportation after he serves his term.
The High Criminal Court of Appeal kept the life term in place for a premeditated murder and arson case from Tubli and confirmed the orders on the hammer and deportation. The case traces back to 9 April 2025, when the Public Prosecution received a report of a fire at workers’ accommodation in Tubli.
A man of Asian nationality was found dead inside.
Prosecutors went to the scene with a forensic pathologist and specialists from the Criminal Information Directorate.
Examination of the flat and the body revealed severe head wounds.
The Prosecution ordered samples taken from the site, tests run, and an autopsy to determine cause of death, while directing enquiries to find the attacker.
