LMRA CEO Highlights Bahrain as International Role Model in Combating Human Trafficking
Bahrain has maintained its Tier 1 classification in the U.S. Department of State’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report for the eighth consecutive year, reflecting the Kingdom’s continued success as an international model in combating human trafficking and safeguarding human rights.
Nibras Mohammed Ali Taleb, Chief Executive of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Chair of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, affirmed that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain continues to strengthen its reputation as a global benchmark in protecting rights and fighting human trafficking.
Marking the Kingdom’s Tier 1 achievement, Mr. Taleb extended his sincere congratulations to His Majesty the King and the Crown Prince, noting that the recognition underscores the international acknowledgment of Bahrain’s pioneering national efforts in this field, built on an organized institutional framework that ensures the protection of all individuals.
He highlighted that Bahrain’s efforts go beyond legislation and regulations, extending to comprehensive anti-trafficking systems that include preventive awareness campaigns, protection measures, access to justice, and mechanisms to sustain these efforts in line with evolving labor market dynamics, ensuring a stable work environment.
Mr. Taleb emphasized that achieving Tier 1 status in the TIP report, which evaluates 188 countries annually, reaffirms Bahrain’s international standing and the trust placed in its commitment to protecting the rights of all labor relations stakeholders through institutionalized collaboration across public and private sectors.
He added that this accomplishment strengthens the Kingdom’s sense of responsibility to continue advancing anti-trafficking initiatives, enhancing human rights protections, and maintaining its international reputation as a role model. The LMRA, in partnership with the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, will continue to develop strategies and initiatives to sustain this excellence while adapting to regional and global developments.
Mr. Taleb also noted Bahrain’s distinguished global position in human rights protection, which has enhanced its appeal as a regional investment hub and a preferred destination for business leaders and international workforce, thanks to advanced legislation, effective regulatory systems, and a stable, productive economic environment.
He expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Interior, under the leadership of Lieutenant-General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, for its role in supporting social and economic security, monitoring labor market practices, and referring violations to judicial authorities. Similarly, he praised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, for promoting Bahrain’s positive image internationally, particularly acknowledging the contributions of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador to the United States.
Additionally, Mr. Taleb commended the Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs, the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, and the Public Prosecution for upholding the law and ensuring justice. The National Committee, which includes representatives from several governmental bodies and civil society organizations, remains committed to initiatives and programs that strengthen a safe work environment aligned with national values.
He also highlighted the fruitful cooperation with the United States, the International Organization for Migration, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime within the GCC region, which has contributed to Bahrain’s sustained achievements in human rights and its continued recognition as a leading nation in combating human trafficking.
