His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, highlighted the depth of leadership and national expertise within Bahrain’s civil service, praising their ability to translate government objectives into practical programmes that serve citizens effectively.

Speaking during the ceremony honouring recipients of the GCC Civil Service Medal — held earlier this month in Kuwait alongside the 21st meeting of GCC Ministers and Heads of Civil Service Authorities — Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah said, “Our civil service sector has consistently demonstrated its capacity to implement government initiatives with efficiency and innovation, contributing directly to the Kingdom’s comprehensive development process under His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.”

Pioneering figures

The medal recognises pioneering figures in civil service across GCC countries.

Present at the event were H.E. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohamed, President of the Electricity and Water Authority; H.E. Basem bin Yaqoub Al Hamar, President of the Survey and Land Registration Bureau; H.E. Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education; and Shaikh Duaij bin Salman Al Khalifa, President of the Civil Service Bureau.

Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah emphasised the importance of national competencies and institutional performance, noting: “Advancing the skills of our workforce and improving institutional governance strengthens service quality and fosters a culture of excellence and innovation across all sectors.”

He also commended the recipients for their achievements, highlighting their critical roles in reflecting the standing of Bahraini cadres across various domains.

Excellence

“Recognition at the GCC level not only honours individual excellence but also motivates all public sector employees to embrace initiative and continuously enhance performance,” he said.

The Deputy Prime Minister further praised the Civil Service Bureau and its affiliates for their role in developing legislation, policies, and training systems, stating, “These efforts underpin our 2023–2026 programme to empower and develop the public sector workforce, positioning Bahrain as a leader in human and administrative development within the region.”
