Life sentences upheld for two in Jaw Prison murder case

The Court of Cassation has upheld life sentences against two defendants in the high-profile “Jaw Prison Murder” case, while charges against a third appellant were dropped following his death during the serving of a life term.
The case involved four inmates accused of fatally assaulting another prisoner in October 2023 at the Jaw Rehabilitation and Reform Center.
Investigations revealed that the defendants attacked the victim following a dispute over a meal, repeatedly striking him on the head and face until he lost consciousness and later died. The Cassation Court confirmed the life sentences previously issued by the High Criminal Appeals Court and referred civil claims arising from the case to the competent civil court for further proceedings.
