Four arrested for shrimping with banned nets

The Coast Guard seized a boat carrying four Asians in possession of shrimp caught using banned bottom trawl nets (karaf ), in violation of Ministerial Resolution No. (205) of 2018 prohibiting bottom trawling.
The Interior Ministry announced the arrest was part of ongoing efforts to address violations related to fishing practices and tools, and to ensure fishermen’s compliance with laws and regulations.
The Coast Guard explained that the seized boat was found in violation of several other requirements, including covering its registration plates, lacking an Automatic Identification System (AIS) device, safety equipment, and legal documentation related to the vessel and crew.
