Bahrain and Singapore Arbitration Bodies Strengthen Ties During Singapore Convention Week

Professor Marike Paulsson, Secretary-General of the Council for International Dispute Resolution of the Kingdom of Bahrain and vice chair of the Board of Trustees at the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR), together with Mr. Ahmed Husain, CEO of the BCDR, held a bilateral meeting with Ms. Gloria Lim, CEO of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), and her team at the office of SIAC in Maxwell Chambers, during Singapore Convention Week 2025,.
The meeting built upon the Memorandum of Understanding signed between SIAC and BCDR on 21 February 2024, which established a framework for cooperation between the two institutions. Discussions reviewed progress since the signing of the MoU and explored further pathways for collaboration, particularly in capacity building, knowledge exchange, and joint stakeholder engagement and collaborations with a focus on the Middle East Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Pre-Moot, recognizing the significance of collaborative initiatives for both institutions.
The discussions stressed the shared commitment to strengthening institutional ties between Bahrain and Singapore as international arbitration hubs, with a focus on equipping practitioners, enhancing procedural innovation, and delivering trusted dispute resolution services within and beyond the region.
