Expansion of Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway Intersection Completed

Manama, Sept. 1 – The Ministry of Works has announced the completion of the expansion project on Al Fateh Highway at its intersection with Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway (Salman Port Junction), covering both eastbound and westbound directions.

The update was shared by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, Eng. Shaikh Mishaal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, during an inspection visit to the site, accompanied by Assistant Undersecretary for Roads Eng. Ahmed Sami Al Tajer and a team of engineers.

According to the ministry, the project focused on easing traffic congestion by widening key sections of the highway. The works included an additional lane for northbound traffic heading toward Manama near the Ghuraifa area, and another lane for southbound traffic heading toward Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway near Umm Al Hassam.

The expansion adds one extra lane in each direction, increasing the road capacity to three lanes heading north and four lanes heading south, between the Salman Port Junction and just before the Juffair Junction (Al Doolab).

In addition to road widening, the project involved relocating and protecting underground utilities, installing new traffic signs, and updating road markings to improve safety.

Eng. Shaikh Mishaal emphasized that the project will significantly enhance traffic flow and road safety for motorists. He also noted that this development complements earlier improvement works completed on the same highway, stretching from Shaikh Hamad Bridge in the north to the Juffair Junction in the south, covering more than three kilometers.
