Bahrain Launches AI System to Monitor Building Changes and Violations

In a major step toward integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in government operations, the Survey and Land Registration Authority has signed an agreement with global company Aitosky to implement the second phase of its AI-based system for detecting building violations and changes.

Engineer Basim bin Yaqoub Al Hammar, Chairman of the Authority, said the system is a key initiative supporting the expansion of digital solutions and improving coordination between government agencies. “By using AI technologies, we can enhance operational efficiency and data accuracy, accelerate decision-making, and raise the quality of services offered to the community,” he added. The project aligns with the Government Program (2023–2026), particularly in the areas of governmental performance and digital transformation.

The second phase aims to localize AI technologies within the Authority, strengthening national capabilities in operating and developing these systems. The project relies exclusively on satellite imagery to ensure comprehensive and reliable monitoring of natural and urban changes across Bahrain.

Al Hammar noted that the initiative builds on the first phase, conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, which achieved over a 60% increase in monitoring efficiency. The new phase will expand the system’s use to include multiple government agencies, enhancing spatial data integration and improving overall government performance.

Abhay Swaroop Mittal, CEO of Aitosky, expressed pride in partnering with the Authority, describing the agreement as a model for public-private collaboration in digital transformation. He emphasized that the partnership focuses on knowledge transfer and building national capabilities, providing an AI-powered platform capable of generating precise monitoring reports to support government decision-makers.

The collaboration reflects the Authority’s commitment to strengthening public-private partnerships to improve government efficiency, integrate relevant agencies, and meet the aspirations of the community.
