Bahrain has expanded its national scholarship programme to cover over 4,000 grants and scholarships for high-achieving students graduating from the 2024-2025 academic year, with a new digital system rolled out to streamline the application process.

The plan includes special allocations for nursing, studies at Al-Azhar University, and extends eligibility to non-traditional students such as evening school and home study graduates.

The announcement came after His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, approved the updated study mission plan.

The initiative targets graduates of both public and private secondary schools who secured a grade point average of 90 percent or above.

Royal backing emphasised

H.E. Dr. Juma underscored that the scholarship expansion reflects the continued support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He noted that 1,900 scholarships will go to students scoring 95 percent or higher, and 2,300 for those in the 90–94.9 percent bracket.

Applicants who meet the criteria may complete scholarship procedures within two months of receiving their university admission.

Priority fields and access

This year’s plan includes 300 scholarships earmarked for nursing studies, alongside 12 international scholarships in the United States and the United Kingdom, and five slots for religious studies at Al-Azhar University.

The programme also reserves hundreds of seats in local and regional universities.

In a key shift towards accessibility, the ministry has eliminated the need for password-based SMS login, replacing it with direct access to the application links.

Digital registration live

Students can apply through the Ministry’s main website (www.moe.gov.bh) or the scholarship portal (scholarship.moe. gov.bh) from Tuesday until the end of Monday, July 14. The new system is designed to reduce delays and improve user experience for thousands of applicants.

The move aims to align the scholarship system with the kingdom’s broader digital transformation goals in education.
