Bahrain and Oman Seal Deal to Prevent Double Taxation and Tax Evasion

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain has officially ratified a new law (Law No. 28 of 2025) that approves a vital agreement between Bahrain and Oman aimed at eliminating double taxation and preventing tax evasion related to income taxes.

The law follows approval by both Bahrain’s Shura Council and the Council of Representatives. The agreement was originally signed in Muscat on January 15, 2025.

According to the law:

  • Article One confirms the ratification of the agreement between the two Gulf countries to address double taxation and strengthen cooperation on financial transparency.

  • Article Two states that the Prime Minister and relevant ministers are responsible for implementing this law, which will come into effect the day after its publication in the official gazette.

This move marks a significant step forward in enhancing economic ties between Bahrain and Oman, and it reflects ongoing efforts to foster cross-border investment and fair tax practices.

In addition to the ratification, both sides also reviewed and discussed other topics of mutual interest, further strengthening their longstanding bilateral relationship.
