A new chapter in Bahrain’s healing journey

RCSI Bahrain celebrated the next generation of doctors and nurses at its 16th Conferring Ceremony yesterday, marking the graduation of more than 270 students and honouring outstanding academic achievements across medicine and nursing.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

His Excellency Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council, attended on behalf of HRH.

Academic excellence

A total of 142 students graduated from the School of Medicine, while 130 students completed undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the School of Postgraduate Studies and Research.

His Excellency Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma delivered a speech in which he congratulated the graduates and their families, and praised the university’s efforts in preparing qualified personnel for the Kingdom’s healthcare sector.

He noted that Bahrain’s higher education sector continues to make steady progress thanks to the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the attention of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He affirmed that the Higher Education Council’s Board of Trustees supports institutions across the Kingdom in their mission to drive further development and growth.

The School of Medicine Valedictorian, Dr Ola Gamil Mohammed, delivered an inspiring speech reflecting on the determination, patience, and achievements of the graduating class.

She expressed heartfelt wishes to her peers as they embark on their professional journeys and contribute to the healthcare sector in Bahrain and beyond.

Dr Ola Gamil Mohammed also received the Medicine Overall Gold Medal, Senior Cycle Bronze Medal, the Professor James Finucane Prize in Medicine, and the Professor Niall O’Higgins Prize in Surgery.

Dr Zain Mohammed AlMuqbel was awarded the Degree Award Gold Medal, Senior Cycle Silver Medal, and the Professor Joe McMenamin Prize in Paediatrics.

Nursing honours

In the nursing stream, Valedictorian Nurse Ali Jamal Ramadhan received the Nursing Overall Gold Medal and the BSc Nursing Bronze Medal.

The BSc Nursing Silver Medal went to Nurse Rahaf Adnan Itani, while Nurse Rawya Alabbasi was recognised with the Rufaida Al-Aslamia Award in Nursing.

The MSc in Nursing Overall Gold Medal was awarded to Nurse Jawad Jameel Saleh.

Distinguished guests attend

The event was attended by senior Bahraini and international dignitaries, including Professor Deborah McNamara, President of RCSI; Professor Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI Bahrain; Professor Cathal Kelly, Vice Chancellor of RCSI; and Professor Michael B. Murphy, Chancellor of the National University of Ireland.

Professor McNamara expressed her deep gratitude for the generous support the university receives from His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
