His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has issued directives to the Ministry of Interior to draft legislation that would impose stricter penalties for traffic violations, particularly those leading to serious injuries or fatalities.

This directive reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and enhancing public safety by addressing the growing concern over reckless driving and road accidents.

Strengthening the Legal Framework
Under HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s instruction, the Ministry of Interior is now tasked with preparing a robust legislative framework aimed at curbing dangerous driving behaviours. The proposed measures will include increased penalties for violations that pose serious threats to road users, as part of a broader strategy to enforce accountability and promote a culture of compliance with traffic laws.

A Safer Road Environment for All
Highlighting the critical role of road safety in national well-being, His Royal Highness stressed the need for continued efforts to ensure a secure and sustainable traffic environment. He reiterated that safeguarding the lives and property of citizens and residents is a top priority for the government, calling for collaborative action across all relevant entities.

The initiative aligns with Bahrain’s long-term vision to modernise its traffic systems and legislative tools, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of society while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

The Ministry of Interior is expected to move swiftly in formulating the necessary legislative proposals, which will be submitted for further review and implementation.
