Starlink, the satellite internet service owned by billionaire Elon Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX, has officially launched its operations in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The announcement was made through Starlink’s verified Twitter account, signaling a major step forward in regional digital connectivity.
This rollout comes after Starlink was granted a license in 2022 by the Bahrain Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), allowing the company to provide satellite communication services across the Kingdom and throughout the region.
In a previous statement, the TRA emphasized that the licensing of Starlink aligns with Bahrain’s national vision to enhance its digital infrastructure and offer next-generation communication solutions to both individual consumers and businesses.
“This step reinforces our commitment to providing advanced communications solutions that support the Kingdom’s development vision and meet the aspirations of the public and private sectors,” said Philippe Marnik, Director General of the TRA.
Starlink’s cutting-edge service is powered by a vast network of low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, offering global coverage with reduced latency. The technology delivers high-speed internet that rivals traditional fiber optics and caters not only to homes and offices but also to mobile sectors, including maritime and aviation industries.
The service’s arrival in Bahrain is expected to accelerate the Kingdom’s digital transformation and strengthen its position as a leading technology hub in the Gulf region, especially amid growing demand for robust, reliable connectivity in an increasingly digital world.
With its official launch, Starlink opens a new chapter for internet accessibility and innovation in Bahrain—offering opportunities across industries from education and healthcare to logistics and transport.
