Deputy Prime Minister receives upgraded identity card

Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, received Mohamed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), who presented him with the upgraded version of the new identity card. This initiative is part of a key strategic project recently launched alongside the Innovation Lab and the self-service center.

Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah emphasized Bahrain’s commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to advancing its digital infrastructure in line with international standards. These efforts aim to enhance services for citizens and facilitate business operations.

He further highlighted the government's dedication to accelerating digital transformation through various strategic initiatives, ensuring efficient government services within a secure and reliable digital environment that guarantees data confidentiality and protection.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister was briefed on the advanced security, technical, and digital features of the new identity card.

Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah commended the efforts of the Ministerial Committee for Information Technology and Communication (MICT), chaired by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, along with the iGA and other relevant entities, for their role in implementing strategic projects that support Bahrain’s digital transformation.
