The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs, and Endowments, in collaboration with the Information and eGovernment Authority, has officially launched the Remote Notarization Service. The service will be offered by private notaries within the Kingdom of Bahrain, facilitating digital document certification.

Dana Khamees Al-Zayani, the Undersecretary for Courts, Family Reconciliation, and Alimony at the Ministry of Justice, announced the launch of this service. The remote notarization service is available on the official website https://notary.moj.gov.bh, where individuals can access it. Initially, the service will be optional and gradually rolled out, covering specific types of transactions in its first phase.

Al-Zayani encouraged individuals interested in using the remote notarization service to register through the Government Notification System (Notices), available via the National Portal bahrain.bh, and to update their details whenever changes occur. Contact addresses registered on this platform will be required for login to the service.

The Undersecretary emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing digital transformation, offering more flexible options to meet the needs of various sectors, including the community, business owners, and investors. This initiative is expected to save time and effort while streamlining the notarization and certification processes.

Regarding the benefits of the new service, Al-Zayani explained that it eliminates the need for in-person attendance and paper-based transactions. The service will rely on securely stored digital transactions encrypted in Blockchain format, ensuring protection against fraud and allowing for electronic exchange between official entities, with no possibility of modification once approved.

The service will also enable the use of electronic signatures via a One-Time Password (OTP), eliminating the need for handwritten signatures. It will allow users to inquire about their notarization transactions and provides an option to cancel them when necessary.

Al-Zayani further noted that the introduction of this service would expand the role of the private sector in offering notarization services, while the Ministry will continue to oversee and regulate transactions completed by licensed private notaries.
