Bahrain will soon say goodbye to summer as the autumn equinox approaches this Sunday at precisely 3:43pm, local time. This celestial event marks the end of summer and the start of autumn, which will last for 89 days, 20 hours, and 37 minutes.
Astronomy researcher Mohammed Redha Al Asfoor explains that while the end of summer will bring a gradual cooling, an immediate drop in temperatures is not likely. High humidity could make the heat feel more intense, and the rate of temperature decrease will vary based on Bahrain’s geographical conditions.
As Bahrain shifts into autumn, nights will gradually become longer and days shorter. In contrast, countries in the southern hemisphere will enter spring, experiencing longer days and shorter nights. On the equinox, the sun will rise directly in the east and set in the west.
“The sun’s rays will be perpendicular to the equator, leading to almost equal lengths of day and night around the world,” Al Asfoor says. Although the equinox represents a near-equal division of day and night, Bahrain will see this balance on Friday, 27 September 2024. On that day, the sun will rise at 5:28am, local time, and set at 5:28pm, with solar noon at 11:28.
