Body found at Bahrain shore: Family seeks scientific proof

Manama : Family members of an Asian man, found dead near Bahrain shore by coastguards, are seeking scientific evidence to confirm his true identity before repatriating the body back home.

The man, an Indian by nationality, and identified as 28-year-old Saravana Ramachandran, was found dead at Bahrain’s shore on the evening of 5th April.

According to the family members of the deceased, scientific verification is necessary as visual identification is difficult since the body is in a badly decomposed state.

“We request the officials to do a scientific verification before they repatriate his body back to India. Not just visual verification for the body reaches us and we discover that it’s not Saravana, it will be a huge issue. The co-worker who identified the body told us that the body was decomposed and it was very hard to recognise the face of the body,” a relative of Saravana told DT News.

The relative further confirmed that Saravana was working for a company in Saudi Arabia when they spoke to him, last time, on 30th March.

When the family tried to reach him afterwards, his phone was “switched off,” the relative said.

“Four days ago we got a call from his office explaining that Saravana’s body was found by the coast guards of Bahrain and that a co-worker had travelled to Bahrain to identify the body.”

“The colleague told us that the body was entirely decomposed but the materials in his pocket helped him identify the body.

“He further told us that Saravana jumped off the Dammam shore and ended his life wherein it floated and reached Bahrain.

“His co-workers later found a suicide note at one of the bookshelves.

“We did speak to Indian Embassy officials in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to find more information where they told us that the body will be repatriated back to  India, Tamil Nadu as soon as the legal formalities are over,” the relative said.
