Man gets jail for threatening woman

The High Criminal Court yesterday sentenced a Bahraini man to one year in jail for threatening his friend’s wife with a knife.

The 28-year-old is said to have barged into the house of his friend and attacked his wife while she was sleeping.

He claimed that he had committed the assault as he found the woman cheating his friend. 

“A man came to our house two days before the incident, and he was stuttering the letter L,” the woman said, “My husband asked me if the man was stuttering, and I did remember that he was in fact.” 

The police record of the convict showed that he was implicated in similar incidents. However, he told the prosecutors that he only meant to help his friend.

“I saw her kissing a man inside a car. Then I chased her until she reached the house. I went and knocked the door. My friend came out but I didn’t want to tell him,” the convict told the prosecutors. 

“Then I attacked her inside their bedroom, and I was asking her about the man she was accompanying. But she didn’t answer,” he added. 

It’s worth noting that during the trial, the defendant’s brother offered the victim BD5000 to waive the case, but she declined it.
