Respite for assaulter as victim withdraws complaint

A 31-year-old Indian labourer withdrew his complaint to save his employer’s son one from one year jail sentence.

According to court details, the labourer was attacked by the man aged 24 following an argument between them. “I was in Manama when he confronted me. He shouted at me because he wanted to settle scores. He directly pushed me to the ground,” the victim told prosecutors.

A medical report indicated that the victim suffered a broken femoral neck. His injury was considered as five per cent disability, according to the medical report.

The defendant was tried before the High Criminal Court, which sentenced him to one year’s imprisonment. However, the sentence was suspended as the labourer withdrew his complaint.
