Pakistan Launches Airstrikes on Afghanistan, 28 Militants Reportedly Killed

Islamabad: Pakistan launched airstrikes on suspected militant hideouts in eastern Afghanistan on Monday, September 21, killing 28 militants, according to Islamabad. According to Pakistani officials, the strikes targeted sites in the Kunar and Paktika provinces.
According to Afghan officials, the attacks killed at least three civilians and injured four more. Kabul condemned the attacks and announced that it will respond. The competing casualty claims have not been independently confirmed.
The strikes came after fatal attacks on Pakistani security personnel along the Afghan border, including fighting in Kohat and Hangu. After nearly three months of relative calm, Pakistan and Afghanistan have resumed hostilities.
