Moscow: Ukrainian drone strikes on Russia killed two people and injured at least 17 others early Monday, according to Russian officials, as Kyiv escalated attacks deep within Russian territory.

A couple died, and five people suffered injuries in Rostov-on-Don, southern Russia, after drones targeted various locations, causing fires in warehouses, private homes, and other facilities. Falling debris also damaged an apartment complex, causing inhabitants to escape.

A similar attack on Belgorod, Russia, injured 12 people, including two children, and sparked a fire in a residential structure. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the attacks also targeted an export terminal in the Rostov region, as well as oil facilities in the Yaroslavl and Udmurtia districts, which are several hundred kilometres from the front lines.

The attacks came as Ukraine continued its operation to target Russian military, energy, and logistics infrastructure, while Moscow increased its aircraft attacks on Ukrainian cities.
