Algeria wildfires leave over 100 hospitalised, damage 150 homes

Algiers: Wildfires blazed through the northeastern Algerian town of Seraidi, leaving more than 100 people injured and roughly 150 buildings damaged, according to authorities.
The fires began on Tuesday in the forested town west of Annaba and persisted into Wednesday, with civil protection teams seeking to limit the flames and safeguard the affected communities. Interior Minister Said Sayoud, speaking at a nearby hospital, stated that the majority of those admitted were in "stable and reassuring" health.
The new fires occur as Algeria tackles hundreds of wildfires in multiple provinces. At least six people have died in the ongoing fires, according to the Interior Ministry. In recent years, deadly fires killed a number of people and damaged large tracts of forests, agriculture and residences.
