Gaza City: An Israeli attack on a police station in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza killed roughly eight people on Tuesday, according to Gaza health officials and the territory's civil defence organisations. Among those killed was a female police officer, and several others got injured.

The victims had been transported to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City following the strike on the police station in western Jabalia. Witnesses reported that the attack caused extensive damage to the building and neighbouring structures, while rescue crews scoured the rubble for possible survivors.

The Israeli military said it had targeted Hamas operatives who were purportedly operating from the police station, saying the facility was being used to plot and coordinate assaults against Israeli troops.

The incident comes as Israeli forces continue operations in Gaza, despite ongoing ceasefire talks mediated by international and regional actors. Fighting has escalated in various areas of the enclave in recent days, with recurrent airstrikes and ground operations exacerbating the humanitarian catastrophe and civilian casualties. Both Israel and Hamas continue to blame each other for endangering civilians during the fighting.
