Foreign ministers meet in Muscat to strengthen bilateral ties and address regional tensions
Oman's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi, received Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in Muscat for high-level bilateral talks, reinforcing the longstanding fraternal relationship between the two Gulf neighbours.
The visit — part of an ongoing exchange of ministerial meetings between the two kingdoms — opened with a one-on-one session where both ministers reviewed the state of Omani-Saudi relations and explored ways to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors.
An expanded delegation session followed, bringing together senior officials from both sides to discuss economic, investment, and logistics cooperation. Talks centred on maximising the complementary strengths of each country, aligning Oman's Vision 2040 with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, and expanding the role of the private sector in cross-border partnerships within the Gulf Cooperation Council framework.
Hormuz Strait Security
The two sides also addressed growing concerns over navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, underscoring its critical role in global trade and energy security. Both ministers stressed the importance of de-escalation, diplomatic engagement, and preserving freedom of maritime passage.
The expanded Omani delegation included the ministers of Finance and Commerce, along with senior Foreign Affairs and Energy undersecretaries. Saudi delegates included the Deputy Transport Minister and senior officials from the Foreign Affairs and Energy ministries.
