Qatar Calls for Calm After Iran's Gulf Strikes

Doha: Qatar has urged for a quick de-escalation in response to Iran's missile and drone attacks on US military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait, warning that the escalating bloodshed threatens regional security and continuing diplomatic efforts.

Qatar, which has served as a crucial mediator between Washington and Tehran, urged all sides to display maximum caution and resume discussion, emphasising that diplomacy remains the only feasible way to resolve the issue.

The appeal followed Iran's retaliatory strikes in reaction to recent US attacks on Iranian sites. Bahrain and Kuwait activated their air defence systems, as tensions in the Gulf rose amid worries of a larger regional clash.

As the Gulf continues to be a vital centre for worldwide oil and gas exports, Qatari authorities cautioned that any escalation might endanger peace efforts, upset regional security, and further threaten global energy markets.
