UAE bars employers from changing contracts without employee consent

Abu Dhabi: The UAE has emphasised that employers are not permitted to make arbitrary changes to employment contracts, emphasising that any changes to agreed-upon terms must have the employee's written approval and respect to the country's labour regulations.
According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), employers are not allowed to alter vital contractual provisions such as salaries, job titles, job responsibilities, working hours, or other employment terms on their own. Any amendment must be mutually agreed upon by both parties and followed by the ministry's recognised processes.
The clarification is part of the UAE's continuous efforts to tighten labour safeguards, increase transparency in employer-employee relations, and promote fair treatment of workers in the private sector.
