International Community Welcomes Gaza Committee Dissolution
The international community has welcomed the announcement regarding the dissolution of the "Emergency Committee" in Gaza, while stressing that its assessment will depend on concrete actions rather than commitments alone.
In a statement issued on Sunday, officials said the priority remains addressing the urgent humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza through tangible measures. They emphasized that any future decisions must fully align with the requirements outlined in the roadmap for advancing governance, security, and the political transition in the territory.
The statement expressed optimism that ongoing discussions on the roadmap would conclude successfully, including agreement on the implementation mechanisms needed to enable the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) to assume full governing authority.
Officials reiterated that the guiding principle of the transition remains "one authority, one law, and one weapon." They said this requires the consolidation of all weapons under the authority of the NCAG, in accordance with the Comprehensive Gaza Peace Plan and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
The statement also underlined that any genuine transfer of authority must allow the NCAG to exercise its mandate independently, including making the administrative and governance decisions entrusted to it as part of the planned transition process.
