Pyongyang: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthen relations with China, saying he is ready to work closely with Chinese President Xi Jinping to deepen what he described as a long-standing ‘ friendly and cooperative’ partnership between the two countries.
In a message marking the 105th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party, Kim praised the ruling party’s role in China’s development and said its leadership remained central to the country’s progress. He emphasised that close cooperation between the two parties continues to underpin bilateral relations.
Kim also referred to his recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, describing their summit in Pyongyang last month as a 'historic' moment that strengthened trust and friendship between the two allies.
Xi had visited North Korea in early June for a two-day state trip, his first in nearly seven years. According to North Korean state media, Kim said the relationship between the two countries is firmly supported by their ruling parties and remains a key foundation of their ties.
