Tehran: Iran has warned Israel of a possible military response following Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon that killed four people, accusing Israel of repeatedly violating a ceasefire linked to a broader agreement that ended the recent Middle East conflict.
In a statement, Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya central military command said Israel must stop its attacks in southern Lebanon or face what it described as a "harsh response" from Iranian armed forces.
The warning came after Israeli strikes reportedly killed four people in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire arrangement that followed a deal between Tehran and Washington aimed at ending hostilities across the region, including in Lebanon.
Iran also accused Israel of breaching the ceasefire dozens of times since the agreement took effect. According to the military command, Israel has violated the truce 84 times.
The latest exchange of accusations highlights the fragility of the ceasefire and raises concerns about renewed tensions in Lebanon, where cross-border hostilities have repeatedly threatened to escalate into a wider regional conflict.
Israel has not immediately responded to Iran's latest claims.
