US pins hopes on Pakistan in push to end Iran war

Washington DC: The United States is relying heavily on Pakistani mediators to advance permanent peace negotiations and end the war with Iran. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed hope for progress as Pakistani officials travel to Tehran.
While an April 8 ceasefire halted open warfare launched by the U.S. and Israel, subsequent negotiation efforts have stalled. President Donald Trump warned that the talks are on the ‘borderline,’ threatening a swift military response if Tehran fails to provide acceptable terms.
Meanwhile, Iran remains on high alert, with chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warning of a forceful response to any renewed attacks. Key sticking points include Tehran’s demands for the release of frozen assets and an end to the U.S. naval blockade.
Furthermore, the ongoing closure of the vital Strait of Hormuz continues to severely impact the global economy by disrupting crucial oil, liquefied natural gas, and fertilizer shipments.
